This song, “Scherdryk” is originally Ukrainian (so sorry, I just really liked this version even if it is Russian). It’s always been one of my favorite holiday songs, but I didn’t know until I researched it that it originally has nothing to do with the holiday and more to do with the New Year. In Ukrainian, this song is about a swallow bringing propserity for the new year.  I’ve always loved the sound of this song and its rhythm, and I found it it’s because it alternates from  3/4 to 6/8, called a hemiola.
