Musical Mondays: “Down the Line” by José González
José González is a Swedish indie folk singer and songwriter of Argentine descent. His soft voice and classical use of guitar make his music strike chords within a person’s heart. Although known for his song covers, such as “Teardrop” by Massive Attack and “Heartbeats” by The Knife, his mellow style and soothing sound create each song, either original or covered, to seem as if these songs could never have existed in a different form.
He reminds the listener of a subconscious state; a mental or spiritual place in which the listener may have stored memories long forgotten or hidden for whatever reason. When listening to his words those faded memories once again reappear. Perhaps they do not feel painful as they do nostalgic.
The above video is the Official Music Video for “Down the Line”, the second song on his album entitled In Our Nature.
